Hilary Hawke Solo Banjo Recital at Jalopy, Tuesday March 15th at 8:30 PM
The wonderful Hilary Hawke of Hilary Hawke and the Flipsides writes that she’ll be doing a solo banjo recital next Tuesday, playing oldtime fingerpicking songs of Dock Boggs, Roscoe Holcomb, and some fingerpicking tunes in the style of Earl Scruggs,mixed with a bit of clawhammer and a little singing. She’ll be joined by three special guests on a song or two, including Valerie Mindel (Emily Miller from Sweetback sister’s mom), Rick Snell and Brian Geltner. $5 Cover.

Hilary Hawke & The Flipsides sounded fantastic today at Superfine’s Bluegrass Brunch. The band has a new album coming out soon- Crow’s Heart- which was recorded at Jalopy. Keep an ear out for the CD release party! You can check them out next Friday, December 10th at 7 pm at Jack Hanley Gallery on Watts Street.
